Mat Notes:

   Returning state champions Justin Vines (46-1,198-26 career) and four-time winner  Jacori Teemer (28-0, 206-5 career) pinned their way into the championship finals. The Arizona State- bound Teemer won his fifth Nassau County title and is only the second Nassau wrestler to achieve that feat (the first was Vito Arujau (Syosset) now at Cornell University). The Wantagh Warriors, defending sectional team champions crowned five champions amongst their 11 county place-winners en route to their seventh team title in the past eight seasons. State bronze medalist Jonathan Loew (46-1, 229-41 career) used a bar-arm to secure the fall in 39 seconds in his semifinal bout and posted a pin in the finals, he won the Most Pins Award with 4 falls in 8:03. Team runners-up Massapequa claimed one title with freshman Chase Liardi (42-3) at 99. Uniondale's Xavier Pommels (30-5) upset top-seeded Aidan Araoz in the finals and was voted the OSW Award. Three-time state medalist Kyle Mosher (37-2, 182-30) used a barrage of takedowns and tilts en route to a 15-0 tech in the finals. Two wrestlers successfully defended their county crowns: Jared Altan (25-5) of Plainedge and LB's potential state champion Elijah Rodriguez (40-4), now in the 220-pound class. Other state podium possibles are: the Wantagh tandem of Josiah Encarnacion (48-2) and Matt Rogers (42-3), along with Nick Tanuzzo (31-0), Joe Simons (35-5) and  JD Moore (37-3) at 160 pounds.
