Mat Notes:

     Penn State won their sixth NCAA title in the past seven years (Ohio State in 2015) and now have seven NCAA team titles. The NCAA leader with team championships is Oklahoma State with 34 and at the 2017 NCAA meet the Cowboys finished with an impressive eight All-Americans, including red-shirt freshman Nick Piccininni. Piccininni (27-8) finished fourth at 125 pounds and is a former four-time NYS champion from Ward Melville HS. The Empire State had a total of three All-Americans: the aforementioned Piccininni along with Cornell teammates Dylan Palacio (Long Beach HS) who finished 6th at 157 and Brian Realbuto (Somers HS) who placed 5th at 174 pounds. Four-time All-American Gabe Dean (3-1-1-2), is Cornell's winningest wrestler, the Michigan HS native had a season record of 34-1 and a spectacular career mark of 152-7. Ohio led all states with the most NCAA All-Americans with 10, followed by perennial power PA (8) and Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, NJ and Oklahoma had 5 each. PA had the most NCAA qualifiers with 49, Ohio (31) and New Jersey (30).
