Hofstra (7-3) defeated Long Island rival LIU, 22-14, in a hotly-contested dual among EIWA squads at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center before about 500 fans on Alumni Day. The Pride were paced by two former NYS champions, Dylan Ryder (Hills West HS) and Ross McFarland (Phoenix HS). Ryder (7-3) converted a takedown scramble into an overhead cradle en route to his 16-3 win at 133 and McFarland (174) also applied an overhead cradle and clinched the dual meet for the home team. Other Pride standouts were Nikolas Miller (197) and # 22 ranked Keaton Kluever (11-2), who used a series of snap-spins takedowns to record a convincing 21-3 tech fall at 285 pounds. Pride head coach, Dennis Papadatos​, is now in his 11th season.


The visiting LIU squad had a key victory turned in by Drew Witham who earned his ninth victory on the season. In a back-and-forth match against Pride's Noah Tapia (17-10), used a Jonsie tilt takedown counter for a seven-point move in the first period and then added a late takedown for an impressive 12-3 major decision in the 149-pound contest. The Sharks had another major decision by tough Devin Matthews, with a dominant 14-5 verdict at 141, along with a solid decision by Rhise Royster who scored with a lightning quick single takedown in the 157-pound bout. LIU head coach is the venerable JoePatrovich ,who has been at the helm for nine years.

Hofstra's nationally ranked Keaton Kleuver controls LIU's Jared Tracey on his way to 21-4 technical fall at 285 pounds.

Hofstra's Jake Slotnick scores with a high single on James Johnston en route to a 6-2 win at 165 pounds.

Hofstra's Dylan Ryder from Hofstra used his bar arm to score a major decision on Christopher Betancourt of LIU at 133 pounds.

Hofstra's Dylan Acevedo-Switzer held off LIU's Robbie Sagaris to win 3-2 at 125 pounds.

Hofstra's Nikolas Miller works for a takedown on LIU's John Dusza. Miller won this 197 pound bout with a 6-2 decision.

Hofstra's Ross McFarland (Phoenix HS) works for a reversal on Long Island University's Corey Connolly (Rocky Point HS). McFarland won this 174 pound bout 8-0 and clinched the dual meet for the Pride, as they won their seventh match of the season.
